Pamela at Something Wagging This Way Comes came up with an amazing idea for a blogger gift exchange this year, where bloggers were matched up and the ‘gifts’ we exchanged were introductions on our own blogs. When I got an email telling me that I had been matched up with Jackie Bouchard from Pooch Smooches, I may have squealed a little bit – you guys may remember Jackie from a previous post of mine: she happens to be the author of What the Dog Ate.

If you don’t remember, I loved this book. After a few reading sessions interrupted by The Monkey, I dragged out a bunch of toys to keep him occupied, got cozy, and finished the rest of the novel in one afternoon. It’s seriously a must-read. I’m not kidding. Go get a copy right now if you haven’t read it already. You won’t be disappointed.
Pooch Smooches, Jackie’s dog-blog, was started as a place to document a journey through “bone cancer hell” with her pup, Abby, who sadly made her way to the Rainbow Bridge at only two and a half years old. Now, it’s a place where Jackie shares tales of her life with Rita, a rescue pup from Baja.

This beautiful girl is Abby.

And this lovely lady is Rita.
We all know that Jackie can write, but did you guys know she’s also an artist? Not only does she draw dogs, she also makes them out of felt! Seriously, this is one multi-talented woman!

Drawing by Jackie Bouchard!

Look at Jackie’s felting!
You guys, Jackie herself doesn’t even know this (yet!) but she is totally an inspiration to me. I have always wanted to write a book, but I was the person who kept saying “someday”… ”Someday I’ll start it”, “I’m going to be an author someday”, etc. I was so inspired by the fact that Jackie, who worked in “corporate America”, ignored “someday” and just did it that I decided to follow suit and have officially started writing a book of my own.
Jackie was super-generous and offered me a free copy of her book, so I feel like it would be fitting to give away a little something in this post about her! I’ve got some dog-themed nail files for four lucky winners – enter using the Rafflecopter form below, and let me know which one you’d prefer if you win!
